HY-TECH ceramic insulating paint additive is a fine, white powder blend of high strength ceramic "microspheres".

The microspheres in the HY-TECH insulating ceramic additive have compression strengths up to 6,000 psi, a softening point of about 1800° C., and they are fairly chemical resistant, with low thermal conductivity of 0.1 W / m / Deg.C.
The scientific process went one step farther and improved on the ceramic microspheres by removing all the gas inside which created a vacuum. Physics law states that nothing can move by conduction through a vacuum, since it represents an absence of matter. In effect we have a miniature thermos bottle... a microscopic hollow vacuum sphere that resists thermal conductivity and reduces the transfer of sound.
Hy-Tech insulating additive is completely inert and can be mixed into ANY paint, coating or composite including interior house paint, exterior house paint, roof paint, solvent base coating, epoxy, urethane, high temperature paint, elastomerics, mastics etc. The addition of the ceramics to any material provides improved fire resistance, protection of coated surfaces from harmful UV rays, repulsion of chewing insects and increased durability of the coating due to the hard ceramic finish. Ceramic filled paint is easier to clean and lasts far longer than conventional paint pigments.

Insulating Additive - Thermacels

For a long time, painters have been using paint to influence how much heat a home gains or loses. Any light hitting a surface coated in black is converted into heat. It's true that white paint doesn't get as hot in the sun, but it's because it reflects more light than it absorbs. Paint designed to insulate does not function in the same way. Micro hollow ceramic and glass spheres (microspheres) resist thermal conduction and are incorporated in insulation paint. The insulating paint can be applied directly to interior walls, or an additive can be added to regular paint to have the same effect. The use of many layers is strongly suggested. Your home's insulation will improve with any paint job. In comparison to conventional paint, insulation paint increases thermal resistance. A vacuum surface made of microscopic ceramic beads no bigger than a grain of flour. The lack of air in a given space reduces its heat conductivity. Use this paint in conjunction with the most common types of insulation found between walls, such as fiberglass, foam, or mineral wool.
